Learning from the CMS Emergency Preparedness Rule and Looking Forward.
The CMS Emergency Preparedness Rule went into effect in 2016, with an implementation date of November 15, 2017. This session featured speakers from CMS, ASPR, and state healthcare preparedness who discussed: current survey results from the last year; best practices, case studies and lessons learned by facilities and healthcare coalitions (HCCs) that are leveraging existing resources to ensure compliance; how HCCs have been partnering and assisting with the EP rule; lessons learned from facilities and surveyors; and the future of the EP rule and healthcare emergency preparedness.
