This article discusses the 5 “success factors” identified by the Texas Medical Center to enable the organization to continue operations during Hurricane Harvey, and resume normal operations quickly following the storm. Specifically, successful business continuity and recovery were due to: disaster infrastructure; resilient culture; technological developments enabling constant communication; operations and preparedness of staff; and care coordination.
