Telemedicine in a Hurricane

Bassett, J. (2019). Telemedicine in a Hurricane. EMSWorld.
This article describes how telemedicine was used to connect the Chief Medical Officer of an ambulance company located at the company’s base with ambulances on site in Florida following Hurricane Michael in 2018. The main benefit of this care model is noted as “being able to complete assessments and treatments in a patient’s residence that would otherwise require transport to the hospital, thus keeping ambulance crews on the street and able to help more people."
