Two student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs) from the University of Iowa are training other healthcare workers on the use of anesthesia machines as ventilators, an innovative solution to treat patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. With many COVID-19 patients requiring mechanical ventilation, being able to use anesthesia machines as ventilators in an emergency helps save lives. The FDA has approved anesthesia machines as ventilators.
