COVID-19 and Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction

Freaney, P., Shah, S., and Khan, S.. (2021). COVID-19 and Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction. (Added 12/23/2020.) JAMA. 324(15):1499-1500.
In this this article the authors address the occurrence of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) in patients with acute COVID-19. While more research is needed to determine whether COVID-19 contributes to or reveals patient predisposition for HFpEF, the disease itself can be considered a risk factor, necessitating screening and treatment.
