Psychological Impact of Health Risk Communication and Social Media on College Students During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Cross-Sectional Study.
The authors surveyed university students in China to understand how risk communication impacted their mental health (e.g., anxiety and panic) during the COVID-19 pandemic. They found a high prevalence of these symptoms among students, but risk communication through social media improved understanding of the pandemic and the symptoms. The authors conclude that health communication and social media affect mental health symptoms.
