The authors discuss strategies to use less oxygen in resource constrained settings, such as Los Angeles during the COVID-19 pandemic or in low- and middle-income countries. Health care facilities may reduce the need for oxygen by using a reservoir device to reduce oxygen delivered by nasal cannula, using liquid oxygen or mobile 3,000-gallon units to refill secondary oxygen systems, or analyzing equipment for oxygen leakage.
