The American Nurses Credentialing Center offers the National Healthcare Disaster Professional board certification examination, a competency-based interprofessional entry-level examination that provides a “valid and reliable assessment” of the knowledge, skills and competencies of healthcare professionals relevant to all phases of the disaster cycle. Certification is available to nurses, physicians, pharmacists, physician assistants, paramedics or Emergency Medical Technicians, respiratory therapists, behavioral health professionals, emergency management professionals, and public health professionals who have the requisite experience and pass the examination.
