This article shares case studies from California and Nevada about how they addressed challenges to avoid crisis standards of care (CSC). The authors recommend: consistent deployment of public health tools to alleviate healthcare surge, improved leadership at the state level on surge strategies and CSC guidance, and requiring consensus-driven, evidence-based CSC guidance.
