Synthesis of Evidence to Support EMS Personnel’s Mental Health During Disease Outbreaks A Scoping Review

Du, B., Rezvani, S., Bigelow, P., et al. (2022). Synthesis of Evidence to Support EMS Personnel’s Mental Health During Disease Outbreaks: A Scoping Review. Safety and Health at Work. 13(4):379-386.
The authors completed a scoping review of literature about EMS personnel mental health during disease outbreaks and factors associated with both favorable and adverse mental health outcomes. They found that the number of articles on the topic increased dramatically during the COVID-19 pandemic. They suggested that providing infection prevention resources, procedures, and training could counter many of the factors associated with adverse mental health outcomes.
