Medical Reserve Corps Volunteers' Characteristics Affect Disaster Survival

Brannen, D., Howell, M., Bidigare, C., et al. (2023). Medical Reserve Corps Volunteers' Characteristics Affect Disaster Survival. Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness. 23(17):e391.
The authors conducted an exercise to understand how select triage and disaster preparedness training courses helped disaster volunteers facilitate victim survival in 16 disaster exercise simulations. They found that Stop-the-Bleed training significantly improved survival and volunteer trust in public authority, and psychological first aid training also increased the odds of survival in this simulation.
