Integrating Hospitals into Community Emergency Preparedness Planning

Braun, B., Wineman, N., Finn, N., Barbera, J., Schmaltz, S., and Loeb, J. (2006). Integrating Hospitals into Community Emergency Preparedness Planning. Annals of Internal Medicine, 144(11):799-81.
The project team developed and administered a nationwide survey questionnaire to examine the nature of hospital–community services linkages that would contribute to the response to local emergencies. While the response rate was low, 75% reported that the community also had a health care coalition that coordinated health care emergency planning and response. The authors noted that national standards for community preparedness would improve coordination.
