Disaster Medical Assistance Teams

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response. (2017). Disaster Medical Assistance Teams (DMAT).
Disaster Medical Assistance Teams (DMATs) are an asset of the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS). DMATs are composed of professional and para-professional medical personnel, supported by pharmacists, logistical, and administrative staff that provide medical care during a disaster or other special events. ASPR Regional Emergency Coordinators (REC) will coordinate requests for DMAT support. They will assist the requestor in articulating the requirement and identifying the number and type of DMAT team(s) needed for the response. NDMS DMAT teams also support veteran and military health administrations in caring for combat casualties. REC contact information can be found here: http://www.phe.gov/Preparedness/responders/rec/Pages/contacts.aspx.
