Disaster Medical Assistance Teams

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response. (2017). Disaster Medical Assistance Teams (DMAT).
Disaster Medical Assistance Teams (DMATs) are an asset of the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS). DMATs are composed of professional and para-professional medical personnel, supported by pharmacists, logistical, and administrative staff that provide medical care during a disaster or other special events. The integration and use of federal personnel should be included in facility and coalition plans for staff surge capacity.
