Disaster Education A Survey Study to Analyze Disaster Medicine Training in Emergency Medicine Residency Programs in the United States

Emergency Medicine residency Program Directors in the United States were surveyed to determine what specific Disaster Medicine competencies were assessed during training. Almost all programs indicated that at least some Disaster Medicine training was part of their residency programs, and most were using drills and lectures/seminars to deliver training. The authors note a lack of standardization across programs in terms of content and training methods, and state there is an opportunity to develop a standardized Disaster Medicine training model for Emergency Medicine residency programs.
