This series of courses is designed to help medical and non-medical volunteers become acquainted with the medical needs shelter experience. It is comprised of six training modules based on roles: Orientation for Primary Care Providers; Orientation for Nursing Role; Orientation for Nursing Student; Non-Medical Volunteer Orientation; Non-Medical Supervisor Orientation; and Training Tools to enhance competence in disaster nursing using a medical shelter simulation. Though designed for medical shelter personnel, similar orientation materials may be needed for staff working at an alternate care site.
