The Emergence and Zoonotic Transmission of H10Nx Avian Influenza Virus Infections

Everest, H., Billington, E., Daines, R., et al. (2021). The Emergence and Zoonotic Transmission of H10Nx Avian Influenza Virus Infections. mBio. 12(5):e01785-21.
This article examines the gap in current understanding of H10Nx avian influenza distribution, tropism, and infection capabilities. The authors note that because of low pathogenicity in chickens, these viruses circulate widely and reassort among poultry populations, causing risks to human health. The authors highlight unique characteristics of H10 viruses which make these strains concerning.
