Prehospital Trauma Care in Disasters and Other Mass Casualty Incidents - A Proposal for Hospital – Based Special Medical Response Teams.
Cureus. 13(3): e13657.
The authors describe the development of the Special Medical Response Teams model, where teams comprised of advanced trauma-trained physicians and paramedics would deploy with emergency medical services (EMS) during a mass casualty incident (MCI). To avoid complication and to clarify roles, it is important that any responder to an MCI is a trained and equipped part of the EMS response.
