The Field's Mass Shooting Medical Services Response

Hansen, P., Mikkelsen, S., Alstrøm, H. et al. (2023). The Field's Mass Shooting: Medical Services Response. Scandinavian Journal of Trauma, Resuscitation and Emergency Medicine. 31(1): 71.
This case study describes the emergency medical services (EMS) response and adherence to mass casualty incident guidelines to a shooting in a Copenhagen shopping mall which resulted in three deaths and 21 injuries. Overall, EMS adhered to guidelines, but the response was challenged by communication issues, a lack of readily available ambulance resources, uncertainty regarding the number of perpetrators and casualties, and social media rumors.
