A GIS Enhanced Data Analytics Approach for Predicting Nursing Home Hurricane Evacuation Response

The authors used variables such as storm conditions, geographical information, nursing home (NH) organizational characteristics, NH staffing and residents characteristics, distance to storm trajectory, projected wind speed, potential storm surge and NH elevation to create a model that could predict nursing home evacuation. They applied the model to evacuations during 2017 (after Hurricane Irma) and found it to be an effective framework that can help NH administrators proactively plan for similar incidents.
