Difficulties Faced by Three Hospitals Evacuated from the Urgent Protective Action Planning Zone after the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant A

The authors reviewed data to better understand challenges three hospitals experienced with evacuating during a radioactive emergency. Several themes emerged that challenged hospitals and residents, emphasizing the need for improved community and healthcare disaster planning: acute phase influx of patients, staff shortages, infrastructure damage and logistics suppression, and unclear evacuation criteria.
