In this case study, hospitals were assessed to determine their flood preparedness and mitigation efforts. Despite repeated incidents and lessons learned, the authors found that hospitals needed improvement specific to several functions, including evacuation. They encouraged additional planning to determine which patients should be moved prior to a storm and to improve communications between emergency services and hospitals regarding patient transport during evacuations.
