In this article, the fire chief in Brockton, Massachusetts shares lessons learned in preparedness, incident command, and mutual aid during and after the 10-alarm hospital fire that necessitated a full evacuation of Signature Health Hospital. In addition to fighting the fire, the department assisted with 162 patient evacuations and transports with no deaths or injuries.
