Long-Term Observation of Mortality Among Inpatients Evacuated from Psychiatric Hospitals in Fukushima Prefecture Following the Fukushima Nuclear Disas

This retrospective analysis of 777 psychiatric inpatients focused on survival time and found a longer evacuation distance was significantly related to mortality (the farther the evacuation distance, the lower risk of death). The authors note that this may be due in part to the quality of medical professionals’ triage methods (e.g., they based their decisions on who to evacuate on existing diagnoses).
