In 2022, CMS published a final rule that established Rural Emergency Hospitals as a new Medicare provider type to promote health equity for those living in rural communities by facilitating access to needed services. This webpage describes services provided, eligible facilities, steps facilities can follow to enroll, and how to receive technical assistance.
