Drug Shortage Causes Impact and Mitigation Strategies

This journal article explains the issue of drug shortages in a global context, with respect to the definition, drugs reported, multifactorial causes, and impacts. There is also a discussion about World Health Organization’s recommended mitigation strategies, categorized by four levels: addressing the current shortage, operational improvements, changes in governmental policies, and education and training of all health professionals.
