Case Fatality Rate for Ebola Disease 1976-2022 A Meta-Analysis of Global Data

This meta-analysis of data from 42 Ebola disease outbreaks in 16 countries between 1976 and 2022 found 34,936 cases and 15,409 deaths with a pooled case fatality rate (CFR) of 60.6%. Cases caused by the Zaire virus were most lethal with a CFR of 66.6%, followed by Sudan virus at 48.5%, Bundibugyo virus at 32.8%, and Tai Forest virus at 0.0%.
