The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Disaster Technical Assistance Center (DTAC) coordinates, communicates, consults and provides resources and technical assistance to HHS and ASPR leadership as well as numerous other federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial offices and agencies on disaster behavioral health issues. The goals of SAMHSA DTAC are to raise awareness; promote behavioral health integration into preparedness, response and recovery operations; and ensure survivors have quality and accessible behavioral health assistance following a disaster and that workforce needs are addressed. These consulting and communication services on disaster behavioral health issues can help users integrate the care and assistance necessary in response and recovery efforts.
