Hurricane Florence and the Use of Telemedicine

Wake County (NC) created six shelters in the wake of Hurricane Florence and found themselves quickly overwhelmed by evacuees’ medical challenges. This article describes how the county used a telemedicine service provider to deliver quality patient care with an 80 percent emergency department diversion rate, saving money and other resources in a strained environment.
