Clinical Features of Patients Hospitalized for All Routes of Anthrax 1880-2018 A Systematic Review

The authors conducted a systematic review of published case reports, case series, and line lists of those hospitalized with anthrax to determine: demographic characteristics; mechanism of exposure; route of infection; mortality, incubation, and duration of illness; symptoms and signs in both adults and children; laboratory results and imaging in both adults and children; treatment with antibiotics or antitoxin during the first two days of hospitalization; and complications.
