A Review of Competencies Developed for Disaster Healthcare Providers Limitations of Current Processes and Applicability

Daily, E., Padjen, P., and Birnbaum, M. (2010). A Review of Competencies Developed for Disaster Healthcare Providers: Limitations of Current Processes and Applicability. Prehospital and Disaster Medicine, 25: 357-395.
The authors conducted a literature review in 2007 to assess commonalities and universal applicability for disaster preparedness among published disaster health competencies. They found that hundreds had been developed, though none had been validated, or could be applied universally. They recommended that a framework and standardized terminology for competencies be developed.
